Back 'home'

Our last morning in New Orleans, and Carolyn managed to do some retail therapy in the French Market with Michelle. A good friend of hers, Oscar, has amazing jewellery which I couldn't pass up, of course.

Now we're back at Larry and Doraleen's after a couple of days on the road. We spent Thursday night at Destin (Florida) having passed through both Mississippi and Alabama. David failed to visit the battleship Alabama in Mobile for the second time.
The beaches along the Emerald Coast are amazing. The sand is as white as can be. Unfortunately due to the sun about to set the colour in the photo isn't very impressive. But the area where no one had walked looked just like snow, honest!

Yesterday was spent on the road listening to Stephen Fry readings Volume II of his autobiography and rolling along under cruise control. All went swimmingly until we were on the home stretch from Orlando, having covered a cool 400 miles. Someone had managed to put his bus-sized camper (RV) in the ditch and at 4:30 on Friday afternoon the traffic buildup was impressive. I'm sure it wasn't because he'd engaged cruise control and gone to make a cup of coffee!
This morning saw us making breakfast for the local residents - an annual fixture as our long-term readers will know. I tell everybody that Larry and Doraleen have to wait for the Brits to come and show them what to do!
