Lakes and Planes

Last night we broke our journey at DeFuniak springs whose claim to fame is one of only two circular lakes 'in the world'. The other is in Switzerland apparently. We took the one-mile drive round it then went for dinner.

We went to 'Mum and Dad's Italian Restaurant' thanks to the SatNav. Unpretentious family establishment.
To-day was dedicated to the National Naval Aviation Museum outside Pensacola. I could have spent longer there but we did our best with the time we had. Apart from a Nieuport, Sopwith Camel and Fokker D VII everything was home-grown. What a lot of it there was too. Here's a selection.

Curtiss seaplane. The made the first Atlantic crossing in 1919 in multiple hops, via Newfoundland and the Azores. Navigation was from one US Navy ship to the next, helpfully stationed along the route. It also once lifted 51 people into the air.

PS
We filled the almost empty tank of our Toyota Corolla yesterday for £14!
