Dinosaurs and Cats

(Carolyn's turn)
FRIDAY
Larry drove us to McKee Jungle Gardens which has an exhibit of life-like models of various dinosaurs located around the gardens. By 'gardens' I mean tropical trees and plants, most of which you can see along the roadside in this part of Florida anyway. But, here there are also small lakes and paths that guide you around the well labelled greenery.
It was a lovely, warm day, apparently the first since Larry and Dorie arrived at the end of January.

Dorie asked me to take their photo with a dinosaur, so David took the opportunity to shoot me shooting them.

Two snakes were enjoying the sun on the edge of one of the lakes.

Look real enough, don't they?

In the evening we went to see 'Cats' at the historic Cocoa Theatre. I was interested to see it as the show has been playing continuously since it opened 21 years ago in London. It was technically very well done, the costumes excellent, the dancing and the singing faultless. But of the four of us only Larry liked it. It seemed pointless with not enough storyline holding all the very long musical numbers together, so for those of you who have seen it and enjoyed it all I can only say it's a good thing we're not all the same!

SATURDAY
Right now we are en route to Defuniak Springs, our first stop along the way to New Orleans. The motorways near Orlando are busy especially at the many toll booths which are slowly depleting our cash reserves! But it's a beautiful day, not a cloud in sight. Hopefully after driving for about 7 hours we'll be there, and we can take a stroll around Defuniak's only tourist site-one of just two perfectly circular spring-fed lakes in the world. Switzerland boasts having the other.

For those of you who like maps here is where we drove today. (Click on the map to enlarge it.)

PS: we were a day early for a car show of 'extinct' cars. One, a very nice metallic silver chrome bumper MGB GT with wire wheels, had arrived early and was acting as gate guardian. I forgot to take a picture
